Cadenza Mono

A true mono cartridge

MC Cadenza Mono

Cadenza, derived from the Italian word "cadence," designates a segment within a musical performance, typically a concert, where the orchestra ceases its play, allowing the soloist to perform independently, unrestrained by a strict rhythmic pattern.

This solo passage, known to as a cadenza typically showcases the most ornate and virtuosic passage performed by the solo instrument throughout the composition. As the cadenza concludes, the orchestra resumes its presence, often bringing the movement to its culmination.

The Cadenza Mono model is made with a Nude Fine Line stylus and a cylindrical aluminium cantilever. The stylus radius is r/R 8/40 µm.The coils are made from 6NX (99.9999 %) pure silver wire. An improved winding process on the armature allows a better channel balance. For easy use, the pins are connected so you get the same signal from both pairs of connecting pins.

Sharing internal build with the Cadenza Red and with optimized adjustments for mono playback the sound is relaxed, homogeneous, and moderate.

The Cadenza series

At Ortofon, we perpetually seek fresh technologies to incorporate into our products, driving the advancement of current technologies. This commitment ensures the attainment of the utmost performance and quality. The Kontrapunkt models and MC Jubilee have set benchmarks in the market, emerging as some of our most sought-after cartridges. Yet, in spite of this success, Ortofon has chosen to embark on the development of a novel cartridge series that aspires to even greater heights.

Each of the five Cadenza Series cartridges has its own individual sonic expression, and all five models together represent the ensemble of five classic variations.

Hi-Fi World May 2011

"... Tonal qualities of the instruments were nicely textured and displayed ...

... found the Mono seemed unperturbed by musical genre and tracked perfectly through the most worn and damaged records that I could find ...

... If you have many monophonic records ... then a dedicated mono cartridge is most definately the best way to play them ... The results are tightly timed, awash with musical detail and colour ... undisturbed by sonic nasties ... An insightful, detailed, and musical cartridge..."

Ortofon Cadenza Mono Phono Cartridge

The Ortofon Cadenza Mono creates a seamless, modern, high-resolution sound that worked well with every genre I played, especially on newer vinyl.

...It dug more detail out of the grooves, probably owing to that fine line stylus.

...Bland's voice emerged from a vast space, invigorated by superb dynamic expression, admirably low levels of groove noise, and compelling directness.

...The Cadenza Mono handled pops and scratches with grace, minimizing their impact.

...It will capture the musical treasures on your mono LPs with greater fidelity than stereo cartridges, even far more expensive ones.

...A more transparent and cerebral take on the music.
